World Citizenship
At Blå Veje we see the “World Citizen” as our template. A world citizen is a person who understands themselves as a citizen of many societies. It belongs not only to the national society, which it is born into and grows up in, but also the universal, to which it belongs purely by virtue of belonging to humanity. If a school only focuses helping to develop children according to society’s changing demands and opinions about what they should learn, the education will be random and flapping. With a clear educational template there is more focus; what is needed, where one is, what frameworks are needed so that children can develop the needed qualities that will ensure them the strongest human potential. We want to educate new citizens who will want to seize life and engage in it.
At Blå Veje we see the children as individuals, with different passions and journeys to make. The school isn’t there for the society. The school is there for the Children and for the Future. It isn’t a factory, that is spitting out consumers for the market. School is a “University for Life”, where a child can discover, develop its own abilities, and find out what is joyful for them. School is a place where they can get skills, tools and mindsets, which are necessary for every human and world citizen.
What makes a human happy and what gives joy and purpose, is up for the individual to find out. But in order to find it, one needs to meet lots of possibilities and expressions of life. At Blå Veje a child will therefore, in meeting many expressions, disciplines, subjects, people, values and qualities, open itself up to the world, and the world to the child.

The Universal – We are all part of humanity. It is a fundamental feeling from which education is based. We should all be able to feel that we are part of something larger than oneself, and that we are part of the same spiritual tribe
The Global – Education on the global scale is a future-oriented formation that is linked to insight, co-responsibility and willingness to relate to contemporary and key issues in the present, such as global climate change and sustainability, violence, war, etc. The world citizen must have knowledge about and feel the challenges our Earth faces and have compassion for it. The National - The national is first and foremost the country in which you live. For example, here in Denmark, the student must accept and understand his rights and duties as a citizen of Danish society and democracy. You are bound to the country through these rights and duties . But the student is also part of a common ethos, a popular tradition that is bound to the traditions and natural essences of the country. As Danish citizens, it is important to know the country we come from, or have come to live in, and what it is like to be a 'Dane'. The Local - The local is about the connection to one's local community, and it encompasses all the biological, cultural and social aspects of it. This is where the child's world begins at the outset, and is the basis for the other three levels. The local and national give the student the foundation to be able to act in the international space with identity and understanding for him/herself and others. The life of school and children will therefore be anchored in the local, national, international and universal life of Blå Veje. |
Students and schools must be able to benefit from an international network, and therefore the school also has contact with other schools in the world and to international organizations for young people. It is important to get around early with other cultures and thereby gain a better understanding of both themselves and others and for the outside world.
Universal Vitamins:
BlåVeje school project is inspired by G.E.T.* school principles, which recognize and work in accordance with the natural development of unfolding potential in the growing child. The curriculum uses a framework of 28 'Vitamins', representing age/stage-specific values and qualities that naturally assist children at different developmental milestones of the human body, mind and faculty development.
As the child grows and different elements of their development become 'switched on', the vitamins provide a strong template of application in order to help students on their educational journey, developing their humanity alongside the academic, intellectual and practical skills you would expect a good education to provide. We want to equip students to live successful, responsible, meaningful and spiritually fulfilling lives in the changing 21st century world, and give a strong foundation for self-thinking, self-confidence and self-esteem.
The vitamins or human values/qualities include 'observation', 'adaptation', 'honor', 'standards', 'ethics', to name just a few. These Vitamins go hand-in-hand with professionalism, which gives students a strong foundation for self-esteem, self-confidence and self-image, to ensure that academic learning happens naturally.

The pupils and the school must be able to experience an international network and therefore BlåVeje have contacts with other schools around the world. BlåVeje also have connections to international organizations for young people. This network should be presented and used early in students education, so that they can get a greater understanding about themselves, about others and for the world around us. We already have good relationships with schools in Canada, England, Netherlands and Israel. We also have contacts with Y-T.O.P which is an international youth organization which works for a future based template of international communities of young people from all over the world working on many of the same principles and values.
